Maintaining the beauty of your gemstone jewelry requires regular cleaning! Here are some suggestions for keeping your gemstones sparkling.
1. Dish soap is your ally! The most effective method for cleaning your gemstones and gemstone jewelry involves using a bowl of water mixed with a few drops of regular dish soap. Use an old, soft toothbrush to gently scrub behind the stone, where dirt and soap tend to accumulate. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
2. Organic gemstones need special attention. Gems such as pearls, amber, and coral are organic and porous, requiring careful handling. Avoid exposing them to chemicals found in hair products, perfumes, and cosmetics. Store them in a cloth-lined box or pouch, separate from other jewelry to prevent scratches. Clean them by gently wiping with a soft cloth.
3. Safeguard your jewels! To preserve the brilliance of your gemstone rings, remove them during intense activities or manual work. Some gemstones can be damaged by a sharp impact. When taking off your rings, avoid pulling them by the gemstone; while this won't harm the gem, it can eventually stretch the metal setting, making it less secure.
